Track: AI Bootcamp - Foundations 3 hours

Learn AI Fundamentals

AI has changed what people without technical backgrounds can build. You don't need to be a developer to ship a real, working application. You need to know how to think with AI, direct it clearly, and recognize when it's wrong.

This track covers the first two weeks of the Treehouse AI Bootcamp. You'll start with what AI actually is: how large language models generate text one word at a time, what ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity are each built for, and the safety habits to establish before you paste anything into a chatbot.

From there, prompting becomes a skill instead of a guessing game. You'll learn the five principles behind every good prompt, then advanced techniques like role prompting, chain-of-thought, and reverse prompting. You'll use AI-powered deep research to validate a real idea with market data, scope it down to a buildable MVP, and generate your first working app with tools like Lovable and Bolt.

Then you'll learn what separates a rough prototype from something you can actually build: writing and stress-testing a spec, recognizing the five ways AI fails and the fix for each, working with AI agents and data, and using advanced builder tools like Cursor, Claude Code, and Codex.

By the end, you'll have a validated idea, a builder-ready spec, and a chosen path for the rest of the bootcamp: a web app, an AI agent, or a data dashboard.
