JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Storing and Tracking Information with Variables Using String Methods

Can someone spot what I need to fix here? Plz N Thx

Use the JavaScript .toUpperCase( ) string method to assign an all uppercase version of the id variable to the userName variable

app.js
var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase(); '#' + lastName.toUpperCase();
index.html
<!DOCTYPE HTML>
<html>
<head>
  <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
  <title>JavaScript Basics</title>
</head>
<body>
<script src="app.js"></script>
</body>
</html>

After the id.toUpperCase use a + operator instead of the ; :) Everything else looks good

thanks. I tried what you said it didnt work... var id = "23188xtr"; var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase(); + "#" lastName.toUpperCase();

var userName = id.toUpperCase() + "#" + lastName.toUpperCase(); The + operators combine the strings together and the ; closes the line of code

Thanks a lot it worked
