For this javaFx course, is Java I/O knowledge required?

I do not really understand how I/O works, is Java I/O the underlying concept or "operation" of GUI? I have been asking for courses of GUI but I am not sure will I be able to handle this.

I/O in In and Out, which refers to input and output, usually with the console.

I thought GUI is ultimately I/O, isn't it? Do I need to master Java I/O first? Have just been reading a book about java i/o
