iOS Object-Oriented Swift Complex Data Structures Adding Instance Methods

Getting Error in Method definition

I think I'm doing everything right but the compiler still says I didn't defined the method in my structure definition.

structs.swift
struct Person {
    let firstName: String
    let lastName: String
    func fullName (fName first: String = "" , lName last: String = "") -> String  {

    var fulllName : String = first + " " + last

    return fulllName

    }
}

1 Answer

  1. Your method should not have any argument's you have it correct returning a string
  2. The method then must return the first and last name
  3. The next part is to call the method
struct Person {
    let firstName: String
    let lastName: String

    func fullName() -> String {

    return "\(firstName) \(lastName)"

    }
}

let aPerson = Person(firstName: "Jeff", lastName: "McDivitt")
let myFullName = aPerson.fullName()
