ahh my bad, I watched the video now it's

function returnValue(upper) {
   return upper;
}
var echo = returnValue('jos');

ok i will take this one now

Nice job done i didn't realise i need to do the var outside the block thx for support

" return upper; " should go after the " var echo = upper; " i believe? try and let me know

i tried that too but still the same ...
