How can I abbreviate a string?

I know how to use the map method, but not how to abbreviate.

app.js 
const daysOfWeek = ["Sunday", "Monday", "Tuesday", "Wednesday", "Thursday", "Friday", "Saturday"];
let abbreviatedDays ;
abbreviatedDays = daysOfWeek.map(day => );
// abbreviatedDays should be: ["Sun", "Mon", "Tue", "Wed", "Thu", "Fri", "Sat"]
