This is my styles.css code for the 2nd part of the HTML course question 1. which just requries the color of heading h1 to be changed to purple. I donΒ΄t understand why it wonΒ΄t work. Anyone know? Thanks

<style> h1 { color: purple; } </style>

index.html
<!doctype html>
<html>
  <head>
    <link href="styles.css" rel="stylesheet">
  </head>
  <body>

    <h1>Welcome to My Web Page!</h1>

  </body>
</html>
styles.css
<style>
  h1  {
      color: purple;
  }
</style>

You do not need the <style> tag in a css file. The <style> tag is for when you want to embed the styling within your html.

Thanks. I realise I did not need to use the CSS file at all.
