JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Working With Numbers Numbers and Strings

JavaScript Basics, stage 3 working with numbers code challenge.

Challenge:

Let's assume we have 10 <div> tags on a page. Each is 190 pixels wide. Using the two variables in this script, create a new variable named totalWidth that multiples the width by the numOfDivs variable. You'll need to use a JavaScript function to retrieve the number value from the string in the width variable

My Answer which worked in work space but not the code challenge:

var width = '190px';
var numOfDivs = 10;
var totalWidth = parseInt(numOfDivs) * parseInt(width);

Some help would be appreciated.

Hi Nigel,

numOfDivs is already an int.

Jeff

How are we supposed to know that?

Correct answer var width = '190px'; var numOfDivs = 10; var totalWidth = parseInt(width) * parseInt(numOfDivs);

var width = '190px';
var numOfDivs = 10;
var totalWidth = numOfDivs * parseInt(width);

Thanks, just needed to leave off the first parseInt.

Cheers Nigel

Thanks, I was doing the same thing.

Hello friends, would anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong here please?

var width = '190px'; var numOfDivs = 10; var totalWidth = parseInt(190px) * parseInt(10);
