Python Python Basics (2015) Python Data Types Specific Index value

Task 1 of 2 Challenge Indexes create new variable varl. Make sure index value 5 is "t."

My code: varl = "badset" varl[5] I'm getting a NameError. However, this code works perfectly in the workspaces.

it's not asking you to slice anything, just set the variable var1 (it looks like you may have varl, not var1) to something where the 5th index is a t.

You just have a typo.

You wrote "varl" (with the lower-case letter "l") instead of "var1" (with the number "1").

If you have misunderstood the challenge, it's also very likely that you will misinterpret the results.
